ECMO CLINICAL APPLICATIONS

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
LivaNova is proud to offer a very interesting education program on Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) developed in conjunction with Dr. Federico Pappalardo. San Raffaele Hospital is a renowned clinical hospital with vast expertise in treatment of patients with cardiovascular diseases. S. Raffaele performs approximately 150 cases per year including transports of patients with ECMO. This workshop will allow participants to share Dr. Pappalardo’s extensive knowledge on ECMO.

TRAINING INCLUDES:
• ECMO Intra/Inter hospital transport: minimizing risks, tips and guidelines; cannulation and decannulation
• Management of anticoagulation and blood products during ECMO
• Hands-on session includes installation, set up, main features, priming, troubleshooting and switching equipment after transportation


INTENDED AUDIENCE:
This workshop was designed for cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists and perfusionists interested in ECMO education, guidelines and advanced techniques.


COURSE DURATION:
This is a one day training program with dinner the evening beforehand with Dr. Pappalardo.

ADVANCED AUTOTRANSFUSION (ATS)

Catharina Hospital - Eindhoven, The Netherlands


PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The main goal of this training program is to offer participants advanced education on autotransfusion. Specific emphasis is placed on how to maintain the highest standards in blood management during cardiac surgery through proven techniques, resulting in better patient care and overall outcomes.

TRAINING INCLUDES:
• ECMO Intra/Inter hospital transport: minimizing risks, tips and guidelines; cannulation and decannulation
• Management of anticoagulation and blood products during ECMO
• Hands-on session includes installation, set up, main features, priming, troubleshooting and switching equipment after transportation

INTENDED AUDIENCE:
This course is specifically designed for perfusionists, anesthesiologists and clinical personnel interested in autotransfusion and blood management techniques.

PERFUSION EMERGENCY AND INCIDENTS MANAGEMENT

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The training will focus on emergency and incident management. The goal is to equip perfusionists to perform in stressful and unexpected situations and leverage the education and tools provided by LivaNova to increase patient safety.


TRAINING INCLUDES:
• Bubble Alarm: How to handle bubbles in the arterial line
• Oxygenator Exchange: How to exchange an oxygenator during ECC
• Low Venous Return: How to handle low venous return flow
• Low Reservoir Level: How to handle low reservoir levels

This course was intended for Perfusionists who want to increase their level of knowledge and skill regarding the handling of critical situations during ECC. CONNECT - ELECTRONIC DATA MANAGEMENT IN CARDIAC SURGERY

This course was designed for perfusionists with intermediate or no previous experience in the use of the electronic data management system CONNECT and who are interested in leveraging and most effectively use CONNECT with the goal to improve efficiacy, traceability, clinical practice and patient outcomes. Central course aspects will be how to setup, customize and use CONNECT but also an intensive experience exchange with the instructors as well as insights to the principles of goal-directed perfusion. Goal-Directed Perfusion is a new perfusion therapy with the goal to improve patient outcomes by adapting perfusion to patients individual metabolic needs.

INSPIRE mi-ecc Solution for mics Surgery

Alaaddin Yilmaz; Pascal Starinieri

Jessa hospital - Hasselt, Belgium


PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Jessa hospital in Hasselt is a modern clinic where Dr. Alaaddin Yilmaz, MD and Pascal Starinieri, MSc, built their unique 360 experience in mini-invasive cardiac surgery. Dr. Yilmaz holds a medical degree from the University of Ghent (1996), where he also accomplished his fellowship. He has worked in Nieuwegein until March 2013 and then joined Hasselt cardiac center. Pascal Starinieri  is a EU certified perfusionist, holding a Master of Science in Perfusion (Leuven Medical School 2015) and is currently pursuing a PhD. Pascal has a wide experience in Perfusion practice and together with Dr. Yilmaz developed a fully mini-invasive approach to cardiac surgery. This unique strategy ranges from Perfusion disposable to anesthesiology and surgical technique. 

 


TRAINING INCLUDES:
This workshop will allow participants to share Dr. Yilmaz and Starinieri’ extensive knowledge and skills and to learn about Best Practices in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery.


 

INTENDED AUDIENCE:
The course is specifically designed for Perfusionists and eventually Cardiac Surgeons who are willing to start a 360 Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery Program with emphasis on mini-bypass technique.
